Outskirts Press Announces the Release of New Fiction: 2nd Chance Coming Home by William Isadore Shines

March 28, 2017 – Denver, CO and Atlanta, GA – Outskirts Press—is pleased to announce the release of 2nd Chance Coming Home, new fiction by William Isadore Shines. The book’s protagonist is a Vietnam veteran trying to adjust to post-war life and cope with post-traumatic stress disorder.

The book begins in the jungles of Vietnam. “Just two days earlier, brash and outspoken Timothy Lawson was beginning what would be his last field mission in Vietnam. The night before he had partied with his friends and boasted about being a short-timer. But now, as he lay on the doorstep of death, this being his last day could be a real possibility.”

Timothy Lawson is a highly decorated Vietnam veteran who returns home with high expectations for a new lease on life. His physical wounds have healed, but coming from Vietnam to the crime and drugs on the streets of his bustling city make for a difficult transition.

With no civilian job skills, and with scenes of the war running through Tim’s head, his dreams and his emotions, he experiences disappointment, tragedy—and trouble with the law. However, a smart young lawyer and a benevolent judge provide this young man a path to redemption—and a second chance.
